The Infant of Prague is a famous statue of the Infant Jesus located in Mal Strana, Prague. The exact origins of the statue are unknown, however, the statue was presented to the Discalced Carmelites at the Church of the Virgin Mary the Victorious in 1628.

During the 30 years war, the priory was plundered and the statue discarded. Finally, in 1638 a young priest named Cyrillus a Matre Dei found the statue in the ruins of the church, cleaned it and placed it in the oratory. Father Cyrillus did not have the money or funds to repair the statue so he prayed for help. He heard the Infant Jesus say, "Have pity on Me and I will have pity on you. Give Me My hands and I will give you peace. The more you honor Me, the more I will bless you". Within a few days the statue was repaired.

While Prague has suffered wars and unrest, the statue has been miraculously protected. Many miracles have been associated with the statue. Since then, devotion has spread throughout Europe, the Philippines and the Americas.

How to pray the Chaplet of the Divine Infant of Prague

On the medal, pray the following words:

"Divine Infant Jesus,
I adore Thy Cross
and I accept all the crosses
Thou wilt be pleased to send me.
Adorable Trinity,
I offer Thee
for the glory of Thy Holy Name of God,
all the adorations of the Sacred Heart
of the Holy Infant Jesus."

On each of the 12 small beads, say "And the Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us"  followed by the Hail Mary in memory of the 12 years of the Infancy of our Divine Savior.

Our Father Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

The Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace! the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of they womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
